It sounds like you two may need to improve your communication. Have you considered couple’s counseling? It could help reduce any tension going on and help you each better express your feelings to one another before it gets to the point of snapping at each other.
Okay, it makes sense to feel some level of fear when someone raises their voice at you.

It sounds like your partner needs help on better communicating so they no longer feel it’s necessary to raise their voice to have their thoughts heard and respected. It sounds like you could use some help in active listening and communicating back without retreating under the excuse of regression. All couples go through moments where they need to figure out better communication between them.
