Chat Room Etiquette (General Tips)

Postby admin » 1 year ago

Recently it's come to our attention that proper chat room etiquette is not as well-known as we had expected. We, generally, did not place many rules for chat room discussions since our site is strictly for adults over the age of 18, but it seems that we should outline some general rules and tips to keep in mind when communicating online. Please read through the following notes to help maintain your sanity when chatting:
  • 1. Heated topics (religion, politics, finances) may not be the best to bring up unless you are directly looking to begin a debate.
  • 2. Our users are from all around the globe. Please be respectful of other countries, societies, social viewpoints, beliefs, traditions, leaders, celebrities, and norms. Try to steer away from stereotyping.
  • 3. Your opinion is not everyone's opinion. Be prepared for someone to disagree with your viewpoint from time to time.
  • 4. Step away from heated discussion if you need to--nobody is forcing you to continue the conversation.
  • 5. Step away from uncomfortable discussion if you need to--nobody is forcing you to continue reading the conversation.
  • 6. Be respectful of peoples' pasts. Topics like forced encounters, abuse, and child neglect may be sore subjects for some.
  • 7. Be polite. If you need to ask someone to take their public conversation privately then do it gently.
  • 8. If the topic is too inappropriate you're welcome to ask the chat room if they mind changing the subject. Otherwise, you're welcome to contact the Admin. directly to request this be done. There are no promises to these requests because you have the right to leave the chat room at any time you feel appropriate.
  • 9. Don't be afraid to say sorry. Apologize if you worded something rudely or may have hurt someone's feelings by bringing up a certain topic. It's appreciated.
  • 10. Respect all members, their life choices, their kinks, their ideas, their beliefs, and their desires. Respect everyone. Choose topics out of respect and care for others.
  • 11. Feel free to ignore a heated discussion instead of joining in to create additional stress.
  • 12. Don't bring up other sites or people to talk negatively about them or to encourage members to join another site. That's just rude.
  • 13. Roleplaying an open relations or adult-oriented scene may make other members uncomfortable. Strongly consider taking these situations to private message.
  • 14. Name-calling to degrade a person is never appropriate.
  • 15. Saying things out of anger or frustration is not appropriate. If you need to, step back and take a deep breath from the conversation.
* Bonus: Do not ever, ever, ever discuss child involvement, child molestation, people under the age if 18 in sensual situations, or true incest scenarios. These are prohibited from the site. These topics are never appropriate on Littlespace Online.
