Experience and Review:

We will kick off this portion of the site by narrating how these diapers are the best disposable diapers there are for us. Period!

They are our absolute favorite. They are the most faithful modern baby diapers in the market currently, offering key novel features that better resemble baby diapers compared to all other AB diapers. Since our first experiences with diapers were with modern baby diapers, Magnifico reminds us of how they felt as we explored diapers for the first few times! The only feature that is lacking is the cloth film on the shell of the diaper. However, Bambino is famous for making thin, flexible, very soft, yet sturdy diaper frames, so no complaints at all.

As for a review.

These diapers come in sample packs of 2, single packs of 10, or cases of 40 (4 packs of 10). Bambino is always faithful to their discreet chipping policy, so our order of 2 x 40 Magnifico diaper cases came in two big brown boxes, with the only possible sign of them being diapers was their shipping label that read TBHG, so, extremely inconspicuous.

The 10 diaper packs are the standard packs that Bambino uses for their AB line of products – a white bag with a loop to be used as a handle and a label with the print of the diaper and the size. Nothing special here.

Upon merely opening a pack, we can quickly see that they are really, really soft. Softer and fluffier even than their already soft Bambino Bellissimo diapers. What we love about Bambino is that their diapers achieve extraordinary softness compared to other AB diaper brands, without compromising their diaper structure integrity. They are soft, but very extremely flexible and durable, all across the diaper.

The prints are adorable. They only come second to Rearz Safari* in terms of how genuine they appear, though exceed in every other area. Big baby dragons in diapers, closely resembling Dragon Tales. How can you go wrong with that!

The inner layer of the diaper has a quilted texture. It feels nice, but Bambino has already achieved maximum internal comfort early on with their older products. It is very comfortable to wear, and the padding is perfect for our body.

The diaper sports two leg gatherings, as usual with current AB premium diapers. Bambino always made their outer gatherings spread out further. They provide no further functionality than regular length leg gatherings, but are aesthetically pleasing, especially for cute baby pictures!

Practically every AB premium diaper in the market features both frontal and rear waistbands, with the exception of ABU’s 2-tape diapers (Cushies, Lavender, SDK). However, it never felt like these features had as much positive impact as those in Bambino Magnifico. They are stretchier than in any other diapers, partly due to the fact that Bambino uses a different type of plastic for the construction of the diaper. Waistbands feel functional, as well as they maintain their stretchiness even after hours of active wear and regular usage.

These diapers are also on-par, if not a tad better than competitors, in terms of how well and how much they can hold fluids. Currently in their mobile site we cannot find how much they claim that they hold in terms of raw capacity. However, we find these diapers very reliable and useful in real world situations. We can safely flood these diapers a couple of times (perhaps about 12pz a wetting), and continue carefully wetting them a few more times before we absolutely hit our personal safety threshold. We can wet it a few more times if we change positions, but we prefer to change if we have more real world obligations to do.

Bambino is also notorious for making diapers that wick quite quickly and well. Even on later wettings, these diapers never feel flooded inside. Unless we reach oversaturation (the point where it will absolutely leak), these diapers do not feel pooped inside. They are considerably less damp as well when reaching these limits, as these diapers have an internal one-way barrier that prevents humidity onto the skin.

The way these diapers swell when wet is both magnificent (pardon the pun!) and also practical. We say practical, because they do not simply bloat out with wetness. They carefully contour around the groin and between the legs, so that the diapers swell into ergonomic garments, rather than feeling like balloons. Some people like the ballooning effect. However, we walk at least 2 miles daily in our diapers, and if they are wet, we prefer them being comfortable over feeling like bags of water ready to burst.

The construction of the diaper is extremely high quality, even higher up than their second-best diapers, which are Bellissimo. For a long time we had not found a diaper that did not have the clumping problem. This occurs with two conditions:

1. The diaper is wet, and the polymers loose adhesiveness to the frame of the diaper as humidity prevents the sticking needed to hold shape.
2. Active movement causes frictions, which overtime degrades the compounds that keep the shell stuck to the polymers.

Most other AB diapers would be okay if only one of the previously mentioned conditions were present. However, if both conditions were present, then the odds of clumping would be really, really high. Even with Bambino Bellissimo diapers, which in our opinion were the best in avoiding the clumping issue, still had this issue present on occasion. With Bambino Magnifico we feel that this issue is gone. Over 60 diapers used and none of them have ever had the integrity of the diaper compromised.

We are unsure how Bambino always manages to deliver in areas where other diaper manufacturers fall short, but we are thankful of a couple more things. Bambino is excellent in odor protection. These diapers are only second to other Bambino products, but they are such a close second that they are practically indistinguishable.

We have talked about many beautiful aspects about our favorite diapers, Bambino Magnifico). However, we have intentionally left out the dual feature that is exclusive to Bambino Magnifico and is the most important selling point, in our opinion – the newly redesigned taping system and the stretchy cloth-like wings.

Recently Tykables (Overnites) and ABU (Preschool and early Super Dry Kids) have both come out with products that feature a hook-and-loop fastening system that is practical for refitting worm diapers and allowed for perfect tape placement and positioning. This feature feels more like a very small “nice to have” in comparison to how Bambino Magnifico, which feels like a truly well thought-out feature that elevates these diapers into a category of their own, super premium diapers!

These tapes work perfectly in tandem with the wings. The wings are capable of stretching far beyond regular plastic-based tapes can, and can adjust perfectly to the hips. They are also soft and breathable, allowing for more comfort in areas where lots of movement is present. These wings ensure that the tapes can be positioned where is most practical and best fitting for us! We have a personal preference towards snugsnug diapers, and these diapers allow us to tape them up snug without worry of tape stretching, or tearing the wings! Also, as a very personal preference, we love diapers that can have the tapes very close to each other, almost center on the landing zone. They resemble real baby diapers, especially ones for infants and newborns.

All in all, these are hooves down our favorite AB disposable diapers. They provide us with the fit that we need, the protection that we demand, and the features that we like. The Bottom Half Group has proven themselves as no pushover competitor to up as coming AB disposable diaper companies, like the newly redesigned ABU and Tykables. We are looking forward to what they have in stores for the future!

Other Thoughts:

The name of these diapers came out of a diaper naming contest, which we entered. The name has little coherence with the diaper itself, and we believe that it could be named better. However, this is only meta, and has nothing to do with our current and real experiences with the diaper.

* We no longer support Rearz, as their shady business practices are detrimental for the AB and CG/L communities, and an insult for any niche lifestyle community out there.
